Counselling

Counselling is an introspection-based journey aimed at making positive changes.

Individual Counselling

I accompany individuals through life time transitions (adjustment to life events like separation, grief, illness), emotional regulation issues and communication problems, with a special interest in professional burnout, self-esteem, and fulfilment.

  • Emotional regulation - learning to manage your emotions so that they don't get the better of you.

  • Self-esteem issues

    • Identity & work-life balance

  • Self-management skills

    • Decision-making

    • Setting priorities

    • Organization

    • Time management)

  • Interpersonal problems

    • Communication

    • Conflict management

    • Social skills

Couples Counselling

I accompany couples through

  • Infidelity

  • Infertility

  • Parenting

  • Adaptation to family structure changes (ex. integrating into a blended family, separation, starting a family)

Rebuilding trust

I deconstruct the process of relationship building to illustrate how relationships are not static, but rather constantly evolving with time. Using the basket metaphor, I illustrate how trust is created and lost.

Improving communication

An obstacle in having our need met is being able to express ourselves clearly. I explore different tools to refine the message and the meaning behind it so that it is more easily understood. Some themes include:

Being clear, concise

Navigating conflict

To preserve relationships, it's important to exercise tact. I explore a number of topics including

  • Cultivating the sense of care

  • Reining in emotions (ex. worry, indignation)

  • How to show up for difficult conversations

  • Identifying how and when to raise concerns

  • Tactfully expressing needs and boundaries

  • Determining when discussion is counterproductive

  • Negotiating needs
